Edward Mezer

Founder

I’m the owner of Piece by Piece Moving and Storage and have been fortunate to spend over two decades in this dynamic industry. Originally from Arlington, MA, I attended Colby College, where I played football and a year of lacrosse. My amazing wife Sasha and I have been married for a few years now, and despite all better judgment, she still puts up with me. We’re blessed with two incredible children—our daughter Alex and our son Max—who bring endless joy to our lives. I feel incredibly lucky to work alongside some of my best friends and people I truly respect. Most rewarding of all is seeing our families and our business grow side by side. I also love collaborating with other moving company owners to share ideas, solve problems, and elevate the industry together.

Dan Oliphant

Chief Executive Officer

Dan has been with Piece by Piece since 2013 and now serves as CEO, guiding the company through a decade of growth, evolution, and industry leadership. Known for his drive, transparency, and ability to connect with both clients and team members, Dan has helped shape Piece by Piece into a company that values hard work, accountability, and people. A former college and professional football player, he brings a competitive edge and a deep commitment to teamwork in everything he does.

Outside of work, Dan is a proud father to three incredible kids—Sophie, Carlin, and Bear—who keep him grounded, motivated, and laughing every day. He lives in Reading, MA, and remains passionate about building a company that takes care of its team and delivers for its customers, one move at a time.

Mike Sumcizk

Chief Operating Officer

Mike Sumcizk joined the team in 2014, starting as a mover—funny enough, completing his very first move with Dan Oliphant. Since that day, Mike has grown with the company, taking on nearly every operational role along the way.

Over the years, he has served as a dispatcher, operations manager, and summer storage overseer, building a deep understanding of how the business runs day in and day out. He’s the kind of person who puts in the time when it’s required, no matter the role or the challenge.

Mike truly embodies our core value of Earn It Every Day, and today, as Chief Operating Officer, he oversees all company operations to ensure our teams are supported and our service standards remain consistently high.

Mike Dewar

Chief Marketing Officer

Mike Dewar has been a champion of PBP long before he officially joined the team. His relationship with Dan Oliphant dates back to Dan’s early days working at what was then Avalon Bear Hill in Waltham, where Mike was already driving business to Piece by Piece.

During his tenure at Avalon, Mike oversaw significant expansion, including opening and scaling multiple buildings throughout Boston. That experience proved invaluable as PBP grew to a size where Mike could bring his expertise directly into the organization and help guide its next phase of growth.

Within PBP, Mike has played a key role across several critical areas, beginning with claims resolution and human resources—responsibilities he continues to support to this day. His ability to see the business from both a client-facing and internal perspective allows him to solve problems pragmatically while keeping long-term growth in focus.

As Chief Marketing Officer, Mike leads the sales team, creates strategic marketing initiatives, reinforces business development efforts, and brand positioning. Mike’s commitment to building smart, scalable solutions make him an integral part of PBP’s leadership team.

Jake Bradley

Chief Finance Officer

Jake is Boston born and bred—through and through—and has been with Piece by Piece Moving and Storage since the very beginning. His unmatched loyalty, quiet consistency, and rare adaptability have made him an irreplaceable part of our company’s foundation. Jake has grown from a hardworking mover, to dispatch, to warehouse manager, to finance assistant, and now serves as our Chief Financial Officer. He leads our accounting operations with steady precision. A proud graduate of BC High and Merrimack College—where he majored in Economics and earned All-Region honors as a football player—Jake blends brains, grit, and humility in everything he does. He’s not only a trusted leader, but someone we all count on, and we are incredibly proud to have him guiding our company’s future.

Samantha Bekkum

Director of Van Line Operations

Samantha Bekkum joined the team following the acquisition of Rainbow Movers, bringing with her a unique background as a former teacher and a natural ability to organize, communicate, and lead. Those skills quickly proved invaluable as PBP integrated more deeply with the van line and began modernizing its systems.

Samantha has played a key role in onboarding and managing van line operations, leading interstate coordination, compliance, scheduling, claims support, and communication between drivers, crews, and national partners. She has also been at the forefront of implementing and updating new technology, helping the company operate more efficiently and scale with confidence.

As Director of Van Line Operations, Samantha oversees a growing team and an interstate department that has transformed the business. What was once just 10–15% of PBP’s work has evolved into a strong 50/50 balance between local and interstate moves—an expansion driven by her leadership, structure, and attention to detail.

Outside of work, Samantha is a big fan of extremely bad movies, which may or may not explain her patience when navigating complex moves. Her steady leadership, adaptability, and commitment to getting it right make her a cornerstone of PBP’s continued growth.

Andre Tongo

Outside Sales, Vice President

Andre began his career as did most of us, managing and servicing our client’s moving projects. He steadily climbed his way up our proverbial corporate ladder and has been generating business through hard work and likability. Andre graduated from Stonehill College (’12), where he majored in criminology and psychology and also excelled on the basketball court. Following his college years, Dre continued his basketball career playing professionally in Ireland and France for 2 years. Dre shows us each day those qualities which made him a great athlete also make him an integral member of our Piece By Piece staff.

Jacob Hart

Operations Specialist

Jacob Hart is the keystone of Piece by Piece Moving. He is the best example of how Piece by Piece and an unparalleled work ethic is a perfect combination for success. Jacob joined PBP in 2012 as a mover. Despite a lackluster first day, he continued to learn and persevere. In the following years, he became one of the elite movers in the industry. Jacob enjoys rising to the challenge and the unique problem solving needed in his role. The main focus for Jacob is the customer experience and setting the crews up for success. Personally, he currently resides in Easton with his wife and four children.

Tim Carbonneau

Outside Sales, Manager

Tim joined the Piece by Piece team during his last semester of College. The Wakefield Massachusetts native, Tim currently resides in Somerville. He also graduated from Stonehill College (’19), where he majored in finance, with a minor in communication. Tim also excelled in athletics and was a NE10 Honor Roll member throughout his time playing football at Stonehill. Piece By Piece continues its proud tradition of investing in dedicated, hard working individuals who take opportunities and find tremendous success. Over the last few years, Tim rises to every challenge and excels in his role as an outside salesperson.

Dylan O’Leary

Director Of Storage

A graduate of UMass Amherst, Dylan joined PBP as a college intern and has steadily grown into a key operational leader within the company. His progression reflects a strong work ethic, sound judgment, and a clear ability to take ownership of complex responsibilities.

As Director of Storage, Dylan oversees all student and long-term storage operations, including billing, pricing, inventory management, and the coordination of storage moves coming in and out of PBP facilities. His role is critical to ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and a seamless experience for both clients and internal teams.

In addition to storage, Dylan brings extensive operational experience across both local moving and van line interstate operations, giving him a well-rounded perspective on how the business functions as a whole. He is known for being steadfast in his approach, highly communicative, and thoughtful in decision-making—qualities that make him a trusted leader across departments.

Dylan’s ability to manage detail-heavy systems while keeping teams aligned has made him an essential part of PBP’s operational leadership and continued growth.
